An online classroom for German tutors

Describe the lesson or attach your coursebook pages. Gomently writes it with gap fills, article practice, listening in German and games, you teach it live while you follow each student, and after class you get a report and homework built from each student’s mistakes.

One lesson, as Gomently might write it

One request becomes a lesson in sections, each with its own task. You change any part by asking.

“The accusative for an adult A2 learner, 45 minutes, with a dialogue at the bakery.”

Tasks that suit German

  • Articles and cases

Sort nouns by der, die and das, or choose the right ending for a sentence from a dropdown.

  • Listening in German

Short clips spoken in German with questions, and words students tap to hear.

  • Gap fill

Typed, from a dropdown or from a word bank, with every accepted form.

  • Word order

Build a sentence from its words, with the verb where it belongs.

  • Find and fix

Students tap the mistakes in a text and correct them.

  • Crossword and matching

Vocabulary as a crossword, or words to pictures as lines or memory cards.

In class

  • Everyone in one room

Video, audio, screen share and a shared board, one-to-one or with a group.

  • Each student’s work, live

Open a student’s screen as they work, see their score and mistakes, and take over to correct a step.

  • Speaking, led by you

Each section carries notes for you: questions to ask aloud and a model answer.

After class

Gomently writes a report and homework for each student from what they did and said in class. You review them and pass them on.

  • Grammar and spelling patterns, with corrections
  • Strengths, and what to work on
  • Talk time and a pronunciation estimate
  • Two or three homework exercises built from their own mistakes
  • A suggestion for the next lesson

Requests to try

Type one in your own words, or attach your coursebook pages.

  • “Modal verbs for a B1 group, with a short listening.”
  • “Vocabulary for a visit to the doctor, A2, with pictures.”
  • “The exercises on page 52 of my coursebook, as they are.”

Questions

  • Yes. Listening clips and tap-to-hear words are spoken by German text-to-speech voices.

  • Yes. Attach the pages as a PDF or photos, and Gomently follows them exercise by exercise, with the numbering, the answer key and the pictures.

  • No. Students answer by tapping, choosing and typing. Speaking is led by you in the live class; class speech is transcribed so the report can note talk time and pronunciation, and the audio is then deleted.

  • Gomently is free for teachers during early access.
