An online classroom for English tutors
Describe the lesson or attach the coursebook pages you teach from. Gomently writes it with gap fills, matching, listening and games, you teach it live while you follow each student, and after class you get a report and homework built from each student’s mistakes.
One lesson, as Gomently might write it
One request becomes a lesson in sections, each with its own task. You change any part by asking.

Tasks that suit English
Gap fill
Typed, from a dropdown or from a word bank, with every accepted form, so “isn’t” and “is not” both count.
Listening
Short clips in US, British or Australian English with questions, and words students tap to hear.
Matching and memory cards
Words to pictures, phrases to meanings, as lines or as a memory game.
Word order and spelling
Put a sentence together from its words, or unscramble a word from its letters.
Find and fix
Students tap the mistakes in a text and correct them, or find the words you name.
Crossword
Built from your words and clues, typed or with letter tiles.
In class
Everyone in one room
Video, audio, screen share and a shared board, one-to-one or with a group.
Each student’s work, live
Open a student’s screen as they work, see their score and mistakes, and take over to correct a step.
Speaking, led by you
Each section carries notes for you: questions to ask aloud and a model answer.
After class
Gomently writes a report and homework for each student from what they did and said in class. You review them and pass them on.
- Grammar and spelling patterns, with corrections
- Strengths, and what to work on
- Talk time and a pronunciation estimate
- Two or three homework exercises built from their own mistakes
- A suggestion for the next lesson
Requests to try
Type one in your own words, or attach your coursebook pages.
- “Vocabulary for a job interview, B2, using the word list I attached.”
- “Phonics for a six-year-old: short vowel sounds, lots of pictures and words to hear.”
- “The exercises on pages 34 and 35 of my coursebook, as they are.”
Questions
Yes. Attach the pages as a PDF or photos, and Gomently follows them exercise by exercise, with the numbering, the answer key and the pictures.
Yes. Listening clips and tap-to-hear words are spoken by text-to-speech voices in US, British or Australian English.
No. Students answer by tapping, choosing and typing. Speaking is led by you in the live class; class speech is transcribed so the report can note talk time and pronunciation, and the audio is then deleted.
