This policy explains what personal data Gomently processes when you visit this website, teach with Gomently or join a class as a student, and what rights you have. We collect only what the classroom needs to work.

Who we are
Gomently is operated by Gomently, Vienna, Austria ("we", "us"). Contact: contact@gomently.com. For anything about your data, write to hello@gomently.com.
For teacher accounts and this website we are the controller. When a teacher or a school teaches students with Gomently, the teacher or school decides who joins their classes and what is taught, and is responsible for those students’ data; we process it on their behalf and on their instructions. Schools can ask us for a data processing agreement.
What we collect from teachers
- Account: your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, also your profile picture; we receive only your basic profile and email, not access to your Google data.
- Sign-in: a session record with the time, your IP address and your browser type, used to keep you signed in and to protect your account.
- Your lessons: what you write in the lesson chat, the files you attach, and the lessons and activities made from them.
- Your classes: scheduled times, the classes you run and their results (see below).
What we collect from students
Students do not create an account and never give us an email address. When a student joins a class we process:
- the name the student types when joining, and a random identifier we create for that class;
- what the student does in the lesson activities: answers, progress, scores and a raised hand;
- microphone audio during class, if the teacher’s class uses recording: the browser keeps only the moments when someone speaks; they are transcribed into text so the teacher can get a report, and the audio is deleted right after transcription (at the latest after 3 days if transcription fails);
- after class, a report card and homework for each student, written from their activity results and the transcript.
Live video and audio travel between participants in real time and are not recorded as video. The class chat is not stored.
Visitors of this website
We use no analytics, no advertising and no tracking on this website. Our hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and keep the service secure.
Why we process data, and on what legal basis
- To provide Gomently to teachers: creating lessons, running classes, writing reports (performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To keep the service and accounts secure and to prevent abuse (our legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To process students’ data on behalf of their teacher or school, on the legal basis that teacher or school relies on (Art. 28 GDPR).
- To send you sign-in emails that you request.
We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
How we use AI
To build a lesson we send your request and the material you attach to AI models. To write a report card we send the student’s name, excerpts of the class transcript and the activity results. We send this through OpenRouter, configured to use only model providers that do not keep the data or use it for training. Class audio is turned into text by Google’s Gemini models through OpenRouter, under the same rule. Lesson pictures may be drawn by an image model and lesson audio may be spoken by a text-to-speech service.
AI can make mistakes. Teachers should check lessons and reports before relying on them.
Who processes data for us
We use these service providers, each only for its part of the service and under a data processing agreement:
- Vercel: hosting of the website and the application.
- Neon: the database.
- Cloudflare: file storage (lesson files, generated activities, temporary class audio) and DNS.
- LiveKit: live video and audio in the classroom.
- Deepgram: turning lesson text into speech, and class audio into text when the main transcription fails.
- OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to, Google among them: AI for lessons and reports, and turning class audio into text.
- Resend: sending sign-in emails.
- Google: sign-in with Google, if you choose it.
Some of these providers process data outside the EU/EEA. Such transfers rely on an adequacy decision of the European Commission, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, or on the Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep data
- Sign-in links: 5 minutes. Sign-in sessions: 30 days after your last visit.
- Class audio: deleted right after transcription, at the latest after 3 days.
- Class records, transcripts, report cards and homework: until the teacher deletes the class.
- Lessons: until the teacher deletes them. Pictures, recordings and activity pages that a lesson version or a past class used can stay stored after the lesson is deleted, so past classes still open; ask us to remove them.
- Your account: until you ask us to delete it. Write to hello@gomently.com and we will delete your account and the lessons and classes that belong to it.
Cookies and storage in your browser
We use only what the service needs to work, so we do not ask for consent to cookies:
- a sign-in cookie for teachers, valid for 30 days;
- your language choice;
- a lesson idea typed on our home page before signing in, kept for up to 24 hours and deleted once used;
- for students, their name and classroom identifier for that class, so a reload does not start over;
- a local copy of the class activity, kept in the browser for 3 days so a dropped connection loses nothing.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing and to receive it in a portable format. Write to hello@gomently.com. Students and parents can also contact the teacher or school whose class the student joined; we help them answer.
You can complain to a data protection authority. In Austria this is the Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna (dsb.gv.at).
Children
Teacher accounts are for adults (18 or older). Students of any age can join a class through their teacher. Where the law requires the permission of a parent or guardian for a child’s data, the teacher or school that invites the child is responsible for obtaining it.
Security
All connections are encrypted. Class audio is stored privately and reached only through signed links that expire. Pictures, recordings and activity pages used in lessons are served at long addresses that cannot be guessed, so students can open them without an account; anyone who has such an address can open it, so do not put private information into lesson material. Sign-in links work once and for 5 minutes.
Changes to this policy
When what we collect or who processes it changes, we update this page and the date above. For significant changes we tell teachers by email or in the product.
