A Wordwall alternative for whole lessons, taught live

Wordwall is quick for template games and quizzes you project, assign or print. Gomently writes the whole lesson with AI from your description or worksheet, runs it live with video while you follow each student’s work, and gives you a report and homework for each student after class.

Why teachers look for another tool

  • A small free plan

Wordwall’s free plan allows 3 activities in total, deleted ones included, with 12 templates and no AI or printing.

  • Favourite games moved to Pro

Since 2025 the Standard plan has 12 templates; Crossword, Wordsearch, Hangman and Gameshow quiz are among the 22 that need Pro.

  • An activity, not a lesson

Wordwall builds one activity at a time and lists no built-in video, shared board or live view of each student, so an online lesson runs in a separate video call.

The two tools, side by side

Creating

In Wordwall you pick a template, type the content and can switch the same content to another template or a printable; on paid plans AI fills one activity from a topic, text or document. In Gomently you describe the whole lesson in one message or attach a worksheet or textbook pages. Gomently may ask a question or two, then writes every section with its tasks, pictures and listening clips. You change any part by asking in the chat or by picking it on the page.

Teaching

Wordwall activities are played together on a classroom screen or by students on their own devices, often beside a video call. Gomently is the classroom: video, audio, screen share and a shared board in one room, one-to-one or with a group. You open any student’s screen as they work, take over to correct a step, or show one student’s work to the class.

Results and follow-up

Wordwall shows each student’s score and answers per question once they finish, with an export to Excel or CSV. After a Gomently class you get a report for each student, with what went well, the mistakes they made and how to fix them, and two or three homework exercises built from those mistakes. You review them and pass them on.

Library and languages

Wordwall has a large community library to copy from and an interface in 45 languages. Gomently has no public library: each lesson is written for you. Its interface is in English, German and Russian, and a lesson can be in any language.

Price

Wordwall’s free plan allows 3 activities. Standard costs US$7.20 a month or US$57.60 a year, Pro US$10.80 a month or US$86.40 a year, with school plans for several teachers. Gomently is free for teachers during early access.

  1. 1

Sign in to Gomently with an email link or Google.

  2. 2

Describe the lesson, or attach the worksheet behind your activities. Word lists and questions can be pasted straight in.

  3. 3

Play it through as a student, change anything by asking, then send your students the class link.

Questions

  • Gomently is free for teachers during early access. Wordwall’s free plan allows 3 activities, and paid plans start at US$7.20 a month (US prices, October 2026).

  • A Gomently lesson can use multiple choice, gap fill, matching (also as memory cards), ordering, sorting, true or false, crossword, find the mistake, tapping on a picture and listening, and any section can be played as a game with a timer, lives and points.

  • No, there is no import. Paste the words or questions into the chat, or attach the document they came from, and Gomently writes the tasks.

  • No. In both tools students join with a link. In Gomently they type their name, and there is nothing to install.
