A LearningApps alternative for live lessons
LearningApps is free and good at short self-check exercises. Gomently is for teaching: AI writes the whole lesson from your description or worksheet, you run it live with video while you follow each student’s work, and after class you get a report and homework for each student to review.

Why teachers look for another tool
No classes since 2021
LearningApps removed student accounts and classes at the end of 2021. A collection now shows progress only under the name a learner types in.
Built for working alone
Tutoring platforms that embed LearningApps note that it does not stay in sync between teacher and student, so it suits self-paced practice better than a live lesson.
Every exercise by hand
Each app is filled in from a fixed template with a basic look. Reviewers note that good game-based material takes a teacher a lot of time.
The two tools, side by side
Creating
In LearningApps you choose a template, such as matching pairs or a crossword, and fill it in; you can also copy and adapt apps other teachers published. In Gomently you describe the lesson in one message or attach a worksheet or textbook pages. Gomently may ask a question or two, then writes the whole lesson: sections with tasks, pictures and listening clips. You change any part by asking in the chat or by picking it on the page.
Teaching
LearningApps gives students a link, a QR code or an embed to work on their own. Gomently is a classroom: video, audio, screen share and a shared board in one room, one-to-one or with a group. You open any student’s screen as they work, take over to correct a step, or show one student’s work to the class.
After class
A LearningApps collection shows which apps each learner solved and lets you export that. After a Gomently class you get a report for each student, with what went well, the mistakes they made and how to fix them, and two or three homework exercises built from those mistakes. You review them and pass them on.
Data protection
LearningApps is run by a Swiss association, keeps its servers in Germany and collects little data; a 2022 school data-protection review rated it highly but noted that schools cannot sign a data processing agreement with it. Gomently is run from Vienna, Austria, under the GDPR: the teacher or school decides about their students’ data, and schools can ask us for a data processing agreement. Some of our providers process data outside the EU under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses. Class audio is deleted after transcription and video is never recorded.

Moving over
Your apps stay where they are. Bring their content, not the files.
- 1
Sign in to Gomently with an email link or Google.
- 2
Describe the lesson, or attach the worksheet your apps came from. Word lists and questions can be pasted straight in.
- 3
Play it through as a student, change anything by asking, then send your students the class link.
